5th International Conference in Microbial Ecotoxicology

Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you all to the 5th ECOTOXICOMIC Conference which will be held in Thessaloniki, Greece on the 12-14 October 2026.

The 5th ECOTOXICOMIC conference timely comes to address the central role of microorganisms in polluted environments as :

• mediators of degradation and detoxification of pollutants and eventual vehicles to remediate polluted ecosystems
• ecotoxicological indicators of the effects of pollutants on biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, usefull in risk assessment
• carriers of antibiotic resistance genes facilitating dispersal in different environmental compartments in the context of one health.

In this ECOTOXICOMIC conference will further expand and address emerging areas like :

• the interactions of environmental microbiomes with nature-based and bio-based solutions (i.e. biopesticides, biological nitrification inhibitors etc)
• the interactions of microbiomes with pollutants in engineered environments
• interactions of pollutants with microbiomes under climate change scenarios.

We expect that the Conference will bring out new research ideas, give spark to new collaborations and give podium to young research talent that are expected to lead scientific innovation in microbial ecotoxicology in the next 20 years.

In addition the Conference will highlight the central role of microbes in environmental risk assessment for regulated chemicals expected to address through dedicated round tables major policy areas.
